Sudden winter

It's cold here. Well, it's cold everywhere right now. We have it relatively good.
For real cold, Marie has some SNOW! pictures on Blue Ridge Blog, up in the Boone area, not so very far away.....
My basil had a little wilt on it from the cold and I may pick all the other herbs, too, because even though the weather service says Cherokee County isn't under frost or freeze alert, I'm not sure I believe it.

More snow photos, from the Smokies, in photos on Fletch's No Direction Home blog, which turns out not to be defunct after all.

Bear on a mission

Several weeks ago (when we had a bear visitor) I linked to a photo of a bear taking extraordinary lengths to reach a bird feeder, on Fletch's No Directions Home blog (now defunct). Apparently these photos have made the rounds on the Internet, and today found a link to a gallery of several photos of this bear attack. These are pretty funny.
