Finding NC roads

Want to know the name of that numbered state road you drove on? Have a name but want to find it on a map that only shows numbers? The North Carolina Secondary Roads database can search by number or name and county and give you the information. Amazing how many roads called 'Friendship' in the state.....Now, if this would just show you the road on a map....

(Thanks to Web guru Tara Calashain who linked it in the Tech Talk blog on WRAL-TV from Raleigh.)

Smokies photos

Nice to see that Fletch has returned, at least for now, with some lovely photos from a weekend walk through the Smokies. Fletch once had a photo blog called SmokyBlog, then moved around a bit. His last blog was No Direction Home. He seems to have a pattern of abandoning blogs. But he always comes back, and today he's posted to Knox Views blog with a link to his latest photos.
Sun and rising fog in the morning shows off the red-leaved sourwoods and dogwoods. Maples are starting to turn, too. Posted by Picasa

Along the Little Tennessee River

A ride along the river, Citico creek area.
From Little Tennessee

Off the main road, lots to see on the Chota/Jones Island peninsula:

A nice way to end a beautiful day, around a fire.

I'm trying a new way of posting photos using PicasaWeb rather than Hello, where I have to post each photo separately and can't link them all at once. I like this, but it made the photos too small (which is why I've continued to use Hello til now), but I think I've figured out how to tweak it. I have more photos from this ride, but not enough time to post them all right now. The 'Little Tennessee' link goes to the album online but without captions so far. Will get more of these photos posted -- and captioned -- soon.
